Tangles and knots

I’m at the two and half year mark on my natural hair journey.  My natural hair is longer than it’s ever been in my entire life and managing this length is becoming quite a challenge.  I’ve recently been keeping my curls stretched to help me mange my natural curls.  Last week I decided to wear a twist out and that decision proved to be a disaster for me.  Not because my twist out wasn’t cute because it was for a couple of days and the rest of the days of the week I wore my hair in a bun. It wasn’t until wash day that I noticed I had major tangled, twisted coils and knots in my hair.  For a natural, tangles and knots mean there’s going to be a long detangling session after washing.
During my detangling session, I swore off twist outs, braids out and any other kind of out.  I’ve since relented on my vow but now I know that I must be much more careful when wearing twist outs.  I will need to co-wash and detangle my hair after a couple of days instead of wearing the twist out for the entire week.
